Michael + Taylor :: Save the Date!!

I am so happy that I can finally share Michael and Taylor’s save the date photo! Michael is Mark’s brother, and Taylor is his super amazing fiance! After the first time we hung out with Taylor, I remember saying that I’d be really sad if they broke up because she’d be a great addition to the ever-growing Fontenot clan!

Last summer, only a few weeks after they started dating, Michael went to Uganda as part of the Invisible Children’s teacher exchange program. While he was there, he took this photo…

He sent me an email when he got back with that photo attached, asking if I could get a big print of it, because he was going to use it when he proposed. I was honored to somehow be a part of the engagement! I placed the order and couldn’t wait to hear how it happened. If you want to read their story, visit their wedding website.

A few months later, after he finally popped the question (3 weeks after Robby, another Fontenot brother, proposed!), I got a voicemail from Michael and Taylor letting me know that, if I wanted to, they would love for me to shoot their wedding. I feel so so so honored to be able to shoot both Fontenot weddings this summer (p.s. you’re next, Ryan!!)

Since Michael and Taylor were going to be in Georgia over New Years, they asked if we could have a little “save the date” session. It was terrible weather the whole time they were here. We couldn’t really come up with a good idea for a save the date since the rainy and cold winter weather wasn’t allowing for anything super awesome. Then, on New Years Eve, as we were running ridiculous ideas about, I sort of jokingly said we could just go in the backyard and take some nightography. They were really intrigued by the thought, and after lots of jump fails, light painting fails by Mark (I love you), and a few flash fails, we nailed it!

They made their own save the date postcards and I was so excited to get it in the mail this week!

To change topics completely, my friend Lynsie told me about Swaptree yesterday and I’m obsessed. Basically, you list books that you have and are willing to trade, and make a list of books that you want. Then, it finds matches for you and you trade books with other people! All you pay is the cost of shipping and it even creates a shipping label for you! You can also trade DVD’s, CD’s or games. Or you can trade a DVD for a book, whatever. It makes me feel like I’m living in the 1800’s with internet, trading goods for other goods. I love it. You should definitely get it, and then add me as your friend so we can trade stuff!

Danielle Cockerell - I amazed by their save the date photo! I love it so much. May I ask for details on how exactly that worked? Because I won't lie it's kind of blowing my mind. I get the concept of light painting but how did they show up so well? with zero motion blur.January 20, 2010 - 11:38 pm
