Annnd Happy Cinco de Mayo! I really miss Texas and their perfect margaritas on days like this. To compensate, tonight I’ll be making this delicious casserole, sipping Dos Equis with lime, and listening to this playlist. Enjoy the part classic, part silly, mostly awesomeness.

Mark and I leave Friday for what will be an epic trip to Texas/Louisiana! I have so much to get done before we leave and I made this playlist to keep me going today. Most of it are mixes from The Hood Internet, where you can download their mixes for free! I’m obsessed.

And a playlist to get your week started right…

Valentines Day is America’s best fake holiday. Mark and I usually don’t get each other stuff, except maybe something small, or inappropriate cards. This year Mark has to work on Valentines Day so we’re going to dinner Monday night. The older I get, the more I just want a good meal!

I love Valentines Day because I love to send my friends and family cards just to say I love you. I love to bake something. I love an excuse to have flowers in the house. I love the stupid cards and the red crap everywhere you go. It’s so pointless and so wonderful!

This year, Mark and I took the photo above in our backyard and I made these that are on their way to certain special people:

Each person got something different on the back of their card, but the one above is my favorite “I love you poem” so that’s the example you get to see. If you don’t get one (they will probably be late), it’s not because I don’t love you madly, it’s just because I got you something else…the mother of all playlists!!

I’m posting this today so you can enjoy this incredible playlist all weekend long! It’s a mix of my favorite love songs. Old ones, new ones, classics, sexy ones, power ballads, cheesy, scream at the top of your lungs in the car when no one is looking, some broken heart songs, guilty pleasures, good covers, you name it, it’s on there! On Saturday Mark and I had an epic day/night date in Atlanta. We headed to the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium! Our favorite part was the Ocean Voyager exhibit, where you could walk through a tunnel and gaze at all the gentle giants! Ocean Voyager has whale sharks (the largest fish species in the world) and two manta rays (the only manta rays in a U.S. aquarium, ever!) There were also lots of stingrays, goliath grouper, and hammerhead sharks. I loved taking photos of these amazing animals and really wish I didn’t have to photograph them through glass! Now I really want to scuba dive with my camera! (Photo note: all of these were taken with the amazing 35 1.4L on the 5D).

In the Georgia Explorer exhibit we saw the super cute loggerhead sea turtle!

I want one of these in my living room…

My second favorite exhibit was the Tropical Diver where we got to see the amazingly beautiful jellyfish.

The Aquarium has weddings in their amazing ballroom and I HOPE BEYOND ALL HOPE to photograph one there someday!

We wrapped up the night at CraftBar, one of Tom Colicchio’s restaurants. Incredible.

Everything below was bought at Target except the mini poinsettia! Their Christmas decorations are ah-ma-zing!

We didn’t get a tree since we’ll be gone for about two weeks over Christmas so this is our little tree for now!

The top right candle below is a cinnamon stick candle I got at Target and I highly recommend you go getting one. It smells delicious! The coasters below that are a birthday gift that my BFF Allison got me from Anthropologie! They are natural slabs of slate complete with a piece of chalk. I love them. The last thing I want to point out is the bottom right item, a treasure in my recipe box: my favorite non alcoholic wassail recipe given to me by Sandy Eckert. And this is Mark watching football, which isn’t Christmassy, but it makes me happy.
