I’m now convinced that one of the best branding/marketing decisions you can make is to get quality images of yourself! I once read on Fred Egan’s blog, “Give me a bio pic. That’s all I want…that’s all your clients want. We love face recognition. This business is a personal business when you name it after yourself.” If I want to display who my clients are through the photos I take of them, then I should display who I am through photos of me.

When I asked Jamie Clayton if he’d balance on top of a ball for me for my idioms series (see post below), he said sure, and asked if I’d take some photos of him for his site. I realized this was a great chance to trade “headshots” and asked him the same in return. Since Mark was there to help me out, Jamie got a few of us together, and I love them! We never got engagement photos (shocking, I know!) and haven’t had legit photos of us since our wedding, so it was time for a few more. Enjoy my favorites!

The amazing Jose Villa is hosting a workshop in Mexico in November. I “applied” for the Mexico Workshop Scholarship and have made it into the top 4! Now, it just comes down to a vote…so I’m asking, begging, screaming at you (with love) to VOTE FOR MY VIDEO!!!

The scholarship is an all expenses paid 4 day wedding photography workshop in Ahualulco De Mercado, Mexico at Hacienda El Carman built 350 years ago. It covers round trip, lodging, food, and a spa treatment, a value of $5500! Above all that goodness, I’d get to work with Jose Villa, one of the most successful and respected wedding photographers in the industry. He’s one of my biggest inspirations. The man shoots all film for goodness sake, amazing!

I wanted someone fairly local so I could go feel the papers and know exactly what I’d be getting. I came across Mirabel Press, based in Cumming, GA (about an hour from us) and set up a meeting! Little did I know I’d not only find my company, but I’d meet an amazing couple at the same time. Kristen and Cody are so neat and I had such a good time meeting their letterpress machines and getting to know a little bit about the process and history of the letterpress. I think it’s the sexiest form of printing and one day dream of having every paper product possible letterpressed! So, without further ado, here they are!

They also surprised me with some of these cute little tags! So cool.

In personal news, Mark and I are home in Texas and so happy about it. Saturday and Sunday we’ll be shooting what will surely be two incredible weddings and after that, fully enjoying time with the Fontenot family! Until next time, whenever that may be, Merry Christmas vacation!!

Heidi Leigh second shot for me this weekend in Buena Vista! She is a photographer based out of Colorado Springs and we ‘met’ through the [b] school, an awesome social network for photographers.

Our wedding coverage was about 12 hours long on Saturday and I could not have survived without Heidi! She stuck with the guys all morning and got some great shots I’m excited to share. Until then, here are some photos we took of each other in action.
