This is what I did last night while men took over my living room and had a “draft.”

A long time ago Sarah Rhoads blogged this:
Since the fifteenth century, artists have created self portraits of themselves. In every creative medium it seems a common practice that throughout the course of the artists’ career they create a variety of self portraits over the course of time. Whether it is for an exploration of self, a projection of self, a means of therapy or just as a means to remember what they looked like and how they felt during a particular season.
Many of the artistic “greats,” Rembrandt, Van Gogh, & Picasso (to name a few) took a slew of self portraits through the course of their defining and successful careers. I can’t help but think that maybe they were onto something.
All of these artists attempted to grasp their identities. Whether or not the images showed a clear representation or only what the artist wants us to see about them, this internal self-exploration is powerful and seems to be a therapeutic and beneficial practice for every creative.
There are some days that I get antsy and need to photograph something, someone. Today was one of those days, and I had more fun shooting myself that I thought I would.

Head over to this post by Sarah to see an awesome collection of self portraits.
I love this silly little plastic camera.

I also posted four new grooms and their awesome style this morning on my other blog.
Only awesome people get married outside in downtown Nashville during sunset.

Insane sunset and lighting during the ceremony trumps red carpet and stained glass any day! I was so happy.

Drawing time! Late, yet again. Thanks to my bronchitis it took a few takes to get through the first few sentences without coughing up a lung, but I finally did and was pretty dang excited about the winner!

I finally gave in and created a Facebook Page for my business. Mason of Volunteer Traditions convinced me while we played in the pool on Saturday in Nashville that the FB page was extremely helpful for business. After some other friends gave me convincing reasons, I did it. So please, confirm me in this – if you like me, go like me! Thanks
These two fled from Chicago to small town Colorado to have a small wedding in the backyard of an amazing house with an amazing view.

Yes, that’s rain.

Dave and Meredith, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your intimate wedding! Someday we’ll have a double date at Wrigley Field.

If you’re interested in a half off, full awesome session, please see the post below! Also, lots of grooms saying NO TO THE RENTED TUX are looking good on my other blog.

Remember that time two years ago that I thought I was cool and showed up to a wedding completely unprepared but thought I was prepared and took some photos that I thought were awesome but that now haunt me and then I drove home and called Mark and said “this is what I want to do” so I made an ugly website and a “logo” and tried to mimic what every other photographer was doing because I didn’t know what the heck I was doing but somehow booked clients and slowly started figuring out who I wanted to be as a photographer and now am pretty excited that I’m finally ME doing something I LOVE? Good times.
To celebrate those good times, besides writing a really long run-on sentence, I’m going to do a drawing for HALF OFF a session! I had fun last year getting entries and doing a “live drawing” so I’m excited for round two. Pass on the news to anyone you know who may be interested! Regardless of where you live, please feel free to enter! We can do out best to make it work
